About Mother

Ashanti‘s mother Tina Douglas recently proved that she could still show her daughters up on the dance floor. On Tuesday, May 12, Ashanti posted a collage of four throwback videos that showed Mrs. Douglas dancing up a storm. In one of the clips, she joined Ashanti on stage and started doing the Bobby Shmurda dance, making the crowd go wild. From the looks of this dance/twerk video, Tina can hang with her beautiful daughters… their doing a dance she taught them when they were kids. We appreciated the mini twerk session these three women gave and we also see where Ashanti and her sister, Kenashia, got those thick thighs from.

Ciara, a proud mother herself, will participate in the program as well. She will represent #SeeHer, an initiative to promote gender equality by increasing the accurate portrayals of women and girls in advertising and media. The group will honor mothers who have worked to support their mission during the program. Previous celebrities who’ve participated in Dear Mama to thank their mothers include Alicia Keys, Will Smith, Halle Berry, Queen Latifah, Mary J. Blige, Colin Kaepernick, Sean “Diddy” Combs, Gabrielle Union, Teyana Taylor, Ludacris, DJ Khaled, Kelly Rowland, Robin Thicke, Chris Paul, and Maxwell.
